Heart of a Warrior

The sun rises, a new day is born.

The sunrays bathe my face.

I gather my gear and sharpen my sword,

so she can be my enemy’s disgrace.

The men are already up,

hungry for the enemy’s blood.

They live to fight, and fight to live.

War is their first and only love.

Everyone is confident,

their blades urging to be swung.

We know once the battle is over,

the smell of our foe’s blood will fill our lungs.

As we make our way to the battlefield,

songs of bravery are sung.

We remember those who have fallen:

Fathers, sons, some old, some young.

We spot our enemy:

hundreds they are, all over the field.

They shout and scream as loud as they can…

They don’t realize their fate has been sealed.

We draw our swords,

and raise them to the skies.

The earth shakes and the wind go wild

as we lunge forward with our battle cries

Our foe is bewildered,

yet it’s ordered to attack.

My men know the time has come,

there will be no falling back.

At the sound of the first clash,

we know this is it.

This is where we become gods,

where our fighting flame is lit.

We will achieve victory,

no matter the price.

As the blood covers our blades,

we delve into this glorious vice.

Sweet Poison

This closeness I feel…

It’s not real anymore.

You’re gone, for good, and yet,

I still feel you in my core.

You used me and abused me,

But only now I’ve been able to see

That I was a tool in your hands:

The accomplice of my own misery.

Your words run around in my head:

Your sweet addictive lies.

You made me dependent

Of what was killing me inside.

But now, you’re not here.

But your poison keeps working…

How will I ever be happy,

If you’re what I can’t stop craving?

Simple solutions all around,

And yet, only the hardest one I see.

I hope you’re satisfied,

With what you’ve done to me.

I was just a stepping stone,

In your path of destruction.

I will always be a slave

Of your fatal seduction.

Take me, leave me,

Save me, kill me.

Just don’t stop your poison

From consuming me.

Brilliant Conclusion

I was in the car, passing by a forest that was on the side of the road. I looked at the mass of trees, just confusing themselves with each other, all looking the same, all in the same position. Then, suddenly, something different caught my eye in that sea of copies. An old oak tree was standing in the middle of all the others. Just standing there, small and dry, because the other trees were higher, making it hard for the little oak tree to get some water when a heavy cloud passed by. The oak was alone, abandoned in a sea of equal trees. Some of those trees seemed to bend towards the oak, and when the wind blew, they slapped the oak with their branches, over and over again. Looking back at that image, I saw my life in the past few years. Some would say that this is a depressing thing to think of. I can't afford to think that way. Because if I already live like that, if I thought like that, I would surely go insane with the pain. So I see that image as a reminder. A reminder that, while they might be hitting me with their branches, they are all the same. They are copies, useless copies made by a society of mass production of high quality bullshit. They have all these fucked up beliefs, and anyone different must die. They all say they are the best. At what? Ass-kissing? Being fucked up jerks? Fuck yeah, you're good at that. But me... No, I have to be an outcast, just because I can reason properly. People say that in a world full of blind people, the one with one working eye is king. Well, where's our crown? Where is the crown for us, people with a fucking working brain? Oh yeah, that's right, you have it. Because, apparently, being dumb and equal is the way to go these days. Well, I'm sorry, but I was born with personality, and I intend to keep it above your mindless fashions and trends. How can the mindless idiots rule over us? Why are they like this? Who gave them the power? Why them?

Meanwhile, my best friend was watching me, feeling the change in my eyes.
"What's wrong?" she asked, out of curiosity.
"Nothing... It's just..." I started.
"What?" she replied, impatient as always.
I took a deep breath, and looked ahead at the dark road we were passing by, that ended in a pitch black tunnel. Then I said:

"This life just scares me to death."

Not Like the Rest

I can't take this anymore
You've crossed the line.
But I kept coming back for more,
Like you hurting me was fine.

But it isn't!
And will never be!
This vicious circle will continue
Until you see...

That I'm not like the rest.
How long will it take for you to see?
That i'll love you until
My last breath comes out of me.

I'm not the best.
I'm not cool.
All I am is myself:
A loving fool.

You're the missing piece
In this puzzle called "my life".
My heart can't keep dancing for you
on the tip of the knife.

No more hiding what I'm feeling,
I'll scream to the world that I'm right here!
I'll take the biggest risk in my life.
There is no more time to fear.

Puppet Master

I’d say that I miss you,

But that wouldn’t be enough.

Why is it like this with you?

Why is it so though?

Here I sit, waiting,

For an answer from my heart:

Should I continue to run this race

That I’ve lost from the start?

Like a drug,

You plant your essence in my head.

I do everything you want, but then

You don’t care about the tears I shed.

You’re a puppet master

And I’m a puppet in your hand.

You play with your fingers and know

That your wish is my command

Some call it madness

Others say it’s lame

I call it devotion and love,

Because that’s the name of the game.

An Unsung Hero

Deep inside these dark buildings

Voices die to be heard

They tell the tales of unsung heroes

Stories that we’ve never learned.

The green fields that covered my heart

Where pain couldn’t reach my head

Disappeared under the black rain

Hurting worst than metal and lead

That color that once made me happy

Now makes me suffer and pain

Those eyes that used to heal my scars

Now make me go insane

The true heroes don’t have glory

They have pain and tears

These were the ones that gave you all

But now you want them to disappear

You captivate our weakened souls

And force our minds to move

If these walls could speak, I’d beg

That they would tell me what to do

Heroes aren’t the ones with powers

They’re the ones that endure pain

I’m done with you torturing me

So I’ll free myself of this chain

The Dark Road Ahead.

Running down on the dark road was our car, silenced by the recent events and confessions. The music flowed from the speakers, breaking the silence around us, but not the one between us.
"Why are you doing this?" she said, gripping the driving wheel stronger than necessary. "I'm not doing anything." I said, even though I knew I was. The thoughts ran through my mind, racing fast and furiously across the last few months.
We were so perfect, so happy.
"This is the best. For me. For you. For us." I said. "Or maybe just for me." I thought, as the tears started forming in her eyes.
She looked down, closing her eyes longer than usual.
Before, the only tears she drew were tears of joy. But I doubted that was the case now.
She was crying.
Then she was shouting.
Then I was shouting.
Our voices mixed with the music, questions being asked, solutions being created, even though we didn't remember the questions.
The car pressed faster through the night. The moon shined over us in the empty road.
Up ahead there was a curve.
She made no indications of slowing.

True Brotherhood

The night is falling,
Expectations grow.
Come on,my friends,
It's time to go.

The day has come,
When pain will cease.
Come on,my friends,
Fight for our peace.

All will fight,
None shall fall
Come on, my brothers,
Listen our call:

"Our blood will dry,
And our tears soak;
But our will of fire
Cannot be broken."

And here we stand,
Motivated and keen.
Come on,my brothers,
It's our time to win!!

Back to the Beginning

Memories return
Pain restarts
No way to escape
This panic attack

The bad days repeat
Inside my head
Those days that I
Wished to be dead

It's not o.k. to feel lonely
When I'm surrounded by everyone
I just wish I could run away
I just wish I could be gone

But I see you
Walk past me
And I hope one day
You'll set me free.

Lonely Day

Such a lonely day
And it's mine
The most loneliest day of my life
Os meus dias são todos assim.
Such a lonely day
Should be banned
It's a day that I can't stand
A solidão atormenta a minha alma...
The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life

Such a lonely day
Shouldn't exist
It's a day that I'll never miss
Such a lonely day
And it's mine
The most loneliest day of my life

And if you go, I wanna go with you
And if you die, I wanna die with you
Inês, traz algum conforto a minha alma penada...
Take your hand and walk away

The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life
Life

Such a lonely day
And it's mine
It's a day that I'm glad I survived

Learning with Love

Darkness evolved me

With her brute force,

I helplessly tried to free myself

Like a chained horse.

Love felt like shit,

Friendship felt like crap.

Everyone became distant

And my mind became flat.

But after loving you for a long time,

I realized that

Love isn’t that bad

And I behaved like a brat.

By loving you I learned

That love isn’t being sad

Loving is a beautiful thing

And you made me realize that.

Despite the fact that

You didn’t fell in love with me

You still came out to be that special person:

The best friend I could ask you to be.

He and She

“Why? Why are you doing this to me?” She said, crying, while looking at him. “After all this time… After all we went through!!” She fell to the ground, in pain, as the memories of the last two years passed through her head.

“Believe me, this is the best for everyone.” He said with his loud, yet soft voice. He knew that that relationship was going nowhere. The flame was gone. At least, so he thought …

“But I still love you!!” She shouted, while trying to get up to her feet. “Why? WHY?? What have I done to cause such thing?”

“It’s not your fault…” He said, trying to organize the mess that was going around his head. “I never thought this would ever happen, but this just shows how dumb I am…” He said, while looking at the floor. He didn’t have the guts to look to her, let alone her face. That face, the one that propelled him to Heaven… And now, that threw him to the deepest side of Hell.

“But there has to be a reason! Tell me! Is it because you think I’m ugly? Or do you think I don’t care about you enough?” She said, closing the gap between them. So close, yet so far…

“No…” He whispered. Then he gathered all the courage that he had within him and looked into her eyes. She felt the tension flowing in his eyes. She knew, the next thing he would say, would come straight from his heart. “This is it.” She thought.

“The reason is…” He stared, but suddenly, something made him stop. She grabbed his hands, in hope that all of that would vanish. But he continued and he spoke those faithful words. “… I don’t love you anymore.”

She felt like someone punched her in the stomach. She fell forward, and he cached her in his strong arms. He hugged her close and whispered “I’m sorry…” He felt her warm body clutching against him. She didn’t want to break up that hug. But there was nothing that could be done to patch up that broken dream. The flame was gone, yet the memories remained…
